General Meeting Demonstration   The June 29 Demonstration will be “Japanese Wood Block Printing” by member, Carol Brown. The General Meeting begins at 10 am and the Demonstration will begin at 11 am. Carol Brown was born in Kansas, lived on a wheat farm, and showed Champion steers at the county 4-H Fair. Selling two steers paid for her tuition at Oklahoma State University where she received a B.S. in Clothing and Textiles. She completed a Certificate in Printmaking from Glassell School of Art, Houston, Texas, and participated in a three-week invitational graphic art workshop, “Back to Basics’, in Basel, Switzerland, 2008. Carson City, Nevada has been Carol’s home for 16 years. In 2018, the Nevada Arts Council awarded Carol a Professional Development Grant, and Jackpot Grants in 2017, 2009, 2007, and 2004.  She has had several solo exhibitions in northern Nevada and participated in numerous group exhibits.  Carol is one of the original members of Printmaker’s Conspiracy, Reno, Nevada. Her art is in private and permanent collections including: Renown Health Art Gallery, Wally World, Western Nevada College, St. Mary’s Art Center, and in Seattle, Washington, at the Swedish Medical Center, and Group Health Cooperative.  Carol’s garage becomes a hand-made paper studio in the summer and new work in sculptural forms is emerging.
