Laurie Agnew ~ Watercolorist

As a child, I loved art, drawing and creating beautiful pictures. Academics and life choices took precedence over art, but the creative urge was always there. While raising a family and pursuing a career in law enforcement, I intermittently participated in various art adventures. After retiring in 2009, I began devoting myself to painting in watercolor and oils. A couple of years ago I discovered and fell in love with pastels and now include them in my artwork.  I have attended courses, webinars and workshops over the past several years and have followed various artists in my pursuit of an art education. Currently, I paint in my own studio producing paintings in watercolor, pastels and oils. I have developed a uniquely whimsical greeting card line under the logo, “A Little Birdie Told Me….” I believe that despite the current trend towards sending e-cards, nothing beats the warm feeling that comes from a specially designed card, chosen for the recipient with a message from the heart from their loved one.

I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of southern California. In my early twenties, I moved to San Diego where my husband, four dogs and one cat currently live part-time.  We purchased a home in the Reno area three years ago and divide our time between the two areas. We anticipate permanently moving to Reno this summer. I am a member of the San Diego Watercolor Society and recently joined the Nevada Artist Association. My artwork is displayed on Zhibit.org and my greeting cards are sold through a veterinary clinic in the San Diego area.
