Rick Mosher is an artist working in traditional paint mediums (watercolor, oil, and acrylic) He is also a photographer and digital artist, his photos and digital art providing inspiration for paintings. He has a tremendous love for color and most of his work reflects this.
Rick was influenced early in his career by his art teacher in Barberton
High School in Ohio who was also the yearbook advisor who pulled him out
of art class to learn photography. He was invited to participate in a Summer class in Photojournalism at Kent State University in 1970 and has always had an interest in photography and digital art.
He worked in the Architectural Woodworking Industry for over 35 years as a wood finisher and faux painter doing work in some of the most expensive homes and cooperate offices in the United States. During this period he created many of his original Woodies.
He attended college in Southern California at Goldenwest College and
Fullerton College where he majored in Art.
He was born in Ohio and moved to California in 1974 where he met and
married his wife in 1979. He has lived on the East Coast in South Florida,
Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
He retired in 2016 and is now a full-time artist in Reno, Nevada.
He started painting and focusing on his art career in 2017 and was rewarded by Steeplechase Films licensing his Iroquois Creation Story, won Best of Show in the team competition of PSA being featured in the PSA Journal , was invited to display his work at the inaugural gallery showing at Nevada Fine Arts Gallery. He was also chosen to sell his work at the Reno Art Fest where the Space Whale was unveiled for the first time in Reno. He was published in Edge of Humanity Magazine, Tussle Magazine in NY, and David Haden, assistant editor, Digital Live Magazine featured his work in his blog “The Spyders of Burslem”. 2018 also saw some recognition, he recently had one of his digital pieces published in the May/June 2018 issue of Nevada magazine and was awarded first place for his A New World Order in the oil painting category at the Nevada Artist Associations Nevada Day Show.
