Artist’s Biography
Kathleen Jones is a juried Roycroft Renaissance Artisan in ceramics, creating handcrafted art pottery inspired by the American Arts and Crafts movement (1890–1920). As part of the Roycroft community, she is licensed to use the double-R mark—an honor earned through a rigorous annual jury process.
Largely self-taught, Kathleen draws inspiration from the master artisans of the past, often working in the Cuerda Seca (black cord) technique. Her work blends historical motifs with her own artistic vision, reviving the values of craftsmanship, beauty, and function. She embraces the Roycroft motto, “Head, Heart, and Hand,” in every piece she creates.
Kathleen believes handmade art has a renewed relevance in today’s fast-paced, tech-driven world. Through thoughtful research and design, she brings overlooked or forgotten period styles back to life—creating pieces meant to be enjoyed, cherished, and passed down.
Her work is part of the permanent collection at the Vasefinder Museum in Carson City, Nevada. You can find her latest creations at the Nevada Artists Gallery (Carson City), the Schoolhouse Gallery (East Aurora, NY), and online on Etsy and eBay.
