Linda Townsend
Throughout her career, Linda has received many awards for her paintings. Locally, out of a large display of paintings, the City of Minden and the Record-Courier Newspaper in Minden each selected her paintings to hang in their offices. In 2004, she was award “Best of Show” in the Winter Show sponsored by the Nevada Artists Association. Many of her paintings can be seen at the Western Nevada College in Minden and at the Brewery Arts Center Gallery in Carson City as well as the Genoa Trading Company in Genoa.

Artist’s Biography
Linda Townsend was born and grew up in New York State. She graduated from State University of New York at New Paltz with a major in Art Education. She subsequently attended the School for American Craftsmen at Rochester Institute of Technology, majoring in ceramic design. She later received a Masters Degree in Education from Pepperdine University in California. She started her teaching career on Long Island, teaching art at Smithtown Junior High.
In 1963, she moved to California and continued her teaching career in Southern California. After thirty years of teaching art on the high school level, she retired in 1993 from the Torrance Unified School District. In 1994, she and her husband moved to Minden. She now devotes more time to her art work. Her paintings and murals grace many homes and business in Southern California as well as in the Carson Valley area.
Linda is currently is a member of the Nevada Artists Association and the Carson Valley Art Association.
