Susan Iwata was born in Northern California growing up close to the Pacific Ocean and Sierra mountains with her parents sharing the experience of camping, fishing and love for the outdoors.  Throughout her life she has been fascinated by the colors in nature, and enjoying attending painting workshops with plein air instructors to enhance her knowledge and skills as a colorist. Oil painting in the impressionistic style is her favorite medium, secondly painting with encaustic wax.

Recently choosing to retire in northern Nevada brings more artistic opportunities for her to develop a painting relationship with the landscapes in the Silver State. Susan has had gallery showings at Art College in Concord, California and the Nevada Artist Association in Carson City, Nevada.
