Sunday May 22nd 1pm – 3pm
Nevada Artist Association 449 W. King St, Carson City
Have you ever seen a beautiful glass piece at an art fair and wondered to yourself “How did they do that?”. In this workshop, students will be introduced to the properties and uniqueness of designing with glass and then move on to making a project of their own. The candleholder they will design can be used for a myriad of purposes – key holder, candy dish, housewarming or holiday gift, etc. Come prepared to let your creativity go and to try something completely different! Feel free to experiment with color and add texture to your project as you see fit. Students will learn about glass and how it can be cut, shaped, draped, slumped, nipped, stacked, combed, molded, etched and sandblasted. Once they are done creating their project the instructor will fire your creations twice in her kiln and you will pick them up in the NAA gallery the following Saturday.

Eventually her focus turned to fused glass in 2012 and she has concentrated solely on the art of creating pieces using fusible glass ever since. She has studied the application of various techniques with instructors from within the U.S. and Canada and continues to learn, practice and experiment in the medium of fused glass. Sue enjoys participating in numerous art fairs and shows, exhibiting and selling her work in California and Nevada.
